April 29th, 2009 • ‘Desperate Housewives’ recap: The Naked Truth
Posted by admin in Serial News

After a dear one passes, it can be hard for those left behind to transition back into the rhythms of normal, day-to-day life. The next steps are usually timid and nearly always shaky. That was certainly the case with Desperate Housewives‘ first post-Edie episode last night, which seemed to be gasping to put together disparate story lines in the wake of losing one of its most vivacious main characters.

Sure, there was the continued mourning. The ladies of the lane expressed their concern for new widower Dave Williams. (Not so much because they like him but because they supposedly liked Edie.) In true Housewives fashion, they stopped by to offer their help and drop off casseroles and then gossip about it on his lawn, but the guy, naturally, was drowning his misery in booze and wanted to be left alone. Still, they kept on with it: ”We need to be persistent — we’re good at that!” said Susan comically. Lo and behold, it wasn’t until Mike Delfino visited that we finally glimpsed Dave, who looked pretty torn up, unshaven, and in his pajamas. But Dave wasn’t having the niceties with Mike, of course. Based on Dave’s feelings about Mike — and how he’d planned to ruin Mike’s life not too long ago — I thought there was the slim chance that the whole thing could have ended there. Dave knifing Mike in a post-trauma rage? He’d probably at least get an easier jail sentence.

Since Mike didn’t have any luck comforting Dave, Susan offered to stop by because, you know, Susan is soooo good and soooo not awkward in situations like this. When she was talking to Mike, however, the klutz dropped what seemed like a huge piece of foreshadowing for us viewers. When briefly discussing her own car wreck in the past few years (the one that killed Dave’s first wife and child), Mike ominously reminded her: ”We did what we had to do.” Ohhhh, now things are getting better! Well, at least, I thought they were.

Unfortunately, after a wacky encounter with Dave that saw Susan stealing everything in his house that he could possibly kill himself with (ties, belts, pills, a gun, and knives, for instance), all was revealed about what she meant. And — I’m totally not shocked about this — but the big reveal about ”what they had to do” was, honestly, none too exciting. It turned out that it wasn’t Mike who was driving the car that killed Dave’s family. It was Susan! Bombshell alert!! This is a major game-changer for Desperate’s mystery!!! Not.

Okay, so I suppose it changes things somewhat. Sure, now the target isn’t exactly Mike. Dave will turn his attention to Susan instead — or, as I predicted early in the season, go after the indomitably cute little M.J., just to ruin Susan’s happiness. But is that really as sordid as ”what we had to do” could have gotten? I thought maybe they were lying about having their brakes checked and that’s what caused the wreck in the first place. Or that they lied about how the wreck actually happened and it was in fact Mike and Susan’s fault. Maybe next week, as this excruciating story line continues to be revealed in tiny bits — it’ll be revealed that Susan was, in fact, drinking and driving or somesuch? That’d be rafter-shaking. Otherwise, why is the switch something Mike and Susan needed to keep secret? People drive without their license all the time. Modern cops have these wondrous things in their cars known as computers that can look up whether you have a valid license. Seriously!

April 29th, 2009 • Desperate Housewives Rundown Episode 20, “Rose’s Turn”
Posted by admin in Serial News

In the wake of Edie’s death, Wisteria Lane appears to be a little bit more subdued than normal on Desperate Housewives — no major scandals or murders or fights. Just some good old-fashioned deceptions and marriage trouble. I think this week’s episode is a step up from last week’s, but then again, I’m not sure that’s hard to do! To chat about “Rose’s Turn,” read more.

Susan — I wish Susan’s storyline were more exciting since hers is the one that involves a gun, after all, but as is the case with most of her stories, she just seems kinda dumb. When she checks in on Dave, who appears to be drinking himself to an early grave, Susan spots a gun in the kitchen and fears that Dave is suicidal. So (of course!) she takes the gun — along with anything that might be used for suicide (knives, ties, belts) and hightails it, only to be stopped by the police who, naturally, wonder why she’s driving with a gun in the front seat (not to mention a whole picnic basket of weaponry?). Later Susan decides to try and connect with Dave by telling him of her guilt over the car accident she and Mike were in. Turns out, Susan was the one driving the car, not Mike, so Dave shifts his murderous attention to her.

Bree — “Orson’s lying to me again. So I think I have to divorce him.” What? That’s a pretty major decision that Bree comes to rather quickly. Anyway, Bree says she can’t handle anymore of Orson’s lying, and Orson promises that from now on, he’s going to be “happy.” But soon enough, Bree learns the truth about Orson’s head injury (he was hit with a bat (yikes!) while trying to steal knick-knacks on the night of Edie’s death) and she decides that the marriage isn’t working out.

Gaby — Gaby has joined a garden club in the hopes of just hanging out, gossiping and drinking, but the woman in charge has them actually planting things. So, Gaby arranges a coup with a team of other ladies who prefer margaritas to marigolds, and she just needs one more person to back her up. So, she asks Tom to join the club, which he gamely does, but Gaby regrets this as soon as she sees Tom enjoying the attention of the “slutty” Patty Rizzo. In the end, Gaby and Tom have a heart-to-heart about it and Gaby explains that she only hopes Tom won’t make her same mistakes and hurt Lynette the way she hurt Carlos.

Lynette — Speaking of Carlos, he has now seen Lynette naked. I’m not at all sure why Lynette would take a shower in Carlos’s office right before coming home, but at any rate, Tom’s not happy about it. Later, Carlos comes by to pick up Lynette for work while she’s in her own shower and she slips, hitting her head. So, Carlos helps her out of the shower and calls a doctor. Because of the whole naked thing, they decide to keep Carlos’s heroic act a secret from Tom — but when it all comes out in the open, Lynette doesn’t feel too badly about it once she learns that Tom’s been keeping company with Patty Rizzo.

Katherine — Apparently, Katherine is dying for Mike to commit to her because, as she murmurs to him in bed, he’s the man she plans to spend the rest of her life with. But no pressure!

April 29th, 2009 • Nicollette Sheridan introduced to businessman beau’s best pal
Posted by admin in Nicollette News

She split from her long-term fiancé Michael Bolton last year, but love could be on the cards again for Nicollette Sheridan. The Desperate Housewives actress has a new companion in her life in the form of wealthy businessman Steve Pate.

Though there’s been no official confirmation about the status of their relationship, the couple looked very much an item as they took Steve’s dog for a stroll in the sunshine in Malibu, California, at the weekend.

Very little is known about Nicole’s dark-haired beau, who was also spotted accompanying the 45-year-old actress on a shopping trip in Beverly Hills last week. But friends of the pair have told the US press: “(They) are really happy together. He’s really sweet to her.”

At the end of last year Nicolette was romantically linked to LA-based actor David Spade after she was spotted smooching with him at her birthday party. But she later told US TV host Ellen DeGeneres they were “just friends”.

March 18th, 2009 • Nicollette Sheridan not writing tell-all book on Desperate Housewives
Posted by admin in News

Although a tabloid recently claimed that she is writing a book about her time on the hit show, her representative have clearly denied the claims.

“Please note, Star did not fact check. If they had, they would have known this is completely not true,” Us weekly quoted a representative for Nicollette as saying.

“Nicollette is a private person and would never write a book about this,” the representative added.

Meanwhile, another Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has said that she really loved Nicollette’s character.

“I love her so much as a person, and I love the character of Edie Britt, that I can’t imagine the show without her,” she told Extra.

March 18th, 2009 • Nicollette & Desperate Housewives: It’s a Wrap!
Posted by admin in News

Bye, bye, Nicollette Sheridan! Don’t let the door hit ya in your Daisy Dukes on the way out.

Yesterday was a certain Wisteria Laner’s last day of work on Desperate Housewives, according to costar Dana Delany.

And she dropped us a few a spoilers…

“Her final episode is really beautiful, and it involves a lot of flashbacks,” Delany told us last night at the Geffen Playhouse’s annual fundraiser, Backstage at the Geffen. “We did a flashback scene from five years ago.”

The flashbacks are new scenes and not footage pulled from previous episodes.

As for saying farewell, it doesn’t sound like Sheridan was given a big tearful send-off. “It was very professional,” Delany said. “We’re used to moving on to new jobs.”

As our own Ted Casablanca broke the news last month, it looks like Sheridan’s Edie may be headed to a final resting place six feet under Wisteria Lane.

Meanwhile, Delany also said she’d like to follow in Eva Longoria Parker and Teri Hatcher’s same-sex lip-locking footsteps with Marcia Cross.

“Believe me, I’ve already done it,” she said with a laugh when asked if she’s pitched the idea to Marc Cherry & Co. “They’re not listening to me.”

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star EVA LONGORIA PARKER is turning waitress for a night, after donating her services for a charity auction.

March 18th, 2009 • LONGORIA PARKER DREADED HATCHER KISS
Posted by admin in Cast

EVA LONGORIA PARKER dreaded kissing TERI HATCHER for a same-sex smooch in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES - because she hates getting close to anyone on screen.
The pair puckered up for a forthcoming episode of the hit show - but Longoria Parker admits she had reservations about the scene.

She tells British TV show This Morning, “I still hate it, it’s really intimate. Even if it is Teri Hatcher, I hate it! It doesn’t matter who, it’s just such a personal invasion, so I find it really difficult.”
And the actress also let slip a racy new plotline - with Hatcher’s character, Susan Mayer, developing feelings for another woman.

Longoria Parker adds, “Not with me and Teri. There’s a lesbian storyline with Teri and another actor and she comes to the girls for advice and I just have to clear things up for her.”

February 4th, 2009 • Teri Hatcher: I’m a Mother First
Posted by Hayley in Uncategorized

It’s hard to imagine Desperate Housewives without Teri Hatcher, which may be why her role as Susan Mayer has earned her a Golden Globe and SAG Award as well as an Emmy nomination.

Now Hatcher is getting the chance to fulfill her dream of being in an animated film. She provides the voices of the mothers - from real to evil - in the 3D version of Coraline, based on the award-winning horror novella and directed by Henry Selick [ The Nightmare Before Christmas].

Q: All of the mothers in Coraline have their faults. How would you rate yourself as a mother?

A: I think I’m really good. I’ve made a lot of career sacrifices and relationship sacrifices in order to make my daughter a priority — to be there to be able to give her what I think she needs and what we need together. I will never be sorry for that a day in my life. That’s the most important thing I’ve ever done and the most important thing I ever will do. Read the rest of this entry »
